Men Named After Malaysian City

A man was perplexed when he encountered two foreign workers from Bangladesh at a gas station, as their names were oddly similar to Shah Alam, the capital of Selangor.

One was named Shah Alam, while the other was Alam Shah, spelt backwards, as revealed by a TikTok user named @ejueju.okodoko.

On 23 April, TikTok user @ejueju.okodoko uploaded a video showing his encounter with two foreign workers at a gas station in Klang.

He expressed confusion as their name tags and uniforms bore the names “Shah Alam” and “Alam Shah” respectively.

Shah Alam jokingly remarked that his name was “Shah Alam Seksyen 3” (Shah Alam Section 3), while Alam Shah quipped that he was “Seksyen 18” (Section 18).

Shah Alam Seksyen 3 and Seksyen 18 are different parts of Shah Alam.

“Yes.

“My name is Shah Alam whether I am in Malaysia or Bangladesh,” the foreign worker named Shah Alam revealed when asked whether names like Shah Alam and Alam Shah exist in Bangladesh.

Netizens found the encounter to be humorous. Some revealed their own encounter in the comments section of the post.

“Shah Alam’s name is indeed famous in Bangladesh. There is a worker named Shaha Alom, Sha Alam,” a TikTok user named Chipsmore wrote.

“Bangladeshi names are often similar, many of their names containing Alam.

“At clinics, registration involves verifying passport numbers due to the similarity in names. When registering at the clinic, we have to check their passport numbers because their names are quite similar," a TikTok user named citizen wrote.

“There are names Shah Alam, Alam Shah, Setia Alam, Denai Alam, Subang Alam, Alam Impian,” TikTok user named Nuresyama wrote.

As of now, the TikTok post has garnered 58.6 thousand views and 1771 comments.
